West Texas Rehab Telethonposted by Jennifer
If you haven’t heard of West Texas Rehab, you need to check them out. What an amazing group of people! I first became acquainted with the non-profit when I was anchoring the news in Abilene.
As a reporter, I saw so many people whose lives were changed because they were able to get the care they needed regardless of their financial circumstances. The Center is dedicated to providing outpatient care to more than 500 patients per day, and is a nationally respected outpatient physical rehabilitation facility.
This year I was asked to be a part of the broadcast team for the West Texas Rehab Telethon. The live telecast, which was broadcast into 9 television markets, featured country music sensation Sawyer Brown, along with host Charlie Chase, Red Steagall, Shelly Mowery, Brad Maule, Twyla Foreman, Bob Bartlett, and myself.
Along with the live show, the evening included an online auction featuring over 400 items, live phone bank, children’s activities, and even an indoor mechanical bull!
The 46th annual telethon is now the longest running telethon on television, and still achieving it’s goal. The telethon raised $1.29 millon dollars!
I was so honored to get to work with such a great group of people. I was touched my all of the stories of lives changed by WTRC. Patients past and present joining efforts to make sure others don’t get left behind in the future.
Please check out their website, and social media sites. They are doing great things.
